The Mercedes-Benz Generation EQ Concept previews an EV crossover family

Mercedes-Benz plans a new family of EVs, starting with this Generation EQ Concept.

The 2016 Paris Motor Show is in full swing, and Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new all-electric SUV crossover concept.

Over the past few months, Mercedes has been reaffirming its new efforts to develop all-electric luxury cars. It is planned to produce more electric cars to compete with Tesla Motors.

What is it?

The latest effort is the all-new Mercedes-Benz Generation EQ concept. Presented at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the new concept demonstrates these precise efforts in the form of a cross EV.

The idea behind the Generation EQ concept combines a popular crossover with an all-electric transmission. The goal: to create a better EV crossover than the Tesla Model X. Given that the Model X is not without flaws, Mercedes sees this opportunity for one Tesla.

It starts with the name, EQ. Today, Mercedes-Benz is sub-branding, so the EQ line represents the new Mercedes family of electric vehicles. Thanks to the latest technologies in the field of electric motors and lithium-ion batteries, the family will introduce an SUV, sedan, coupe, station wagon and a number of convertibles.

“Our new EQ brand goes far beyond electric vehicles,” said Dr. Dieter Zetsche at a press conference. “EQ means a comprehensive electrical ecosystem of services, technology and innovation.”

The Generation EQ concept helps to create a brand. It may look like a smoother version of GLE Crossover. But his familiar design is superior to Tesla Model X in getting to know each other, which means customers won’t have to adapt to the weird quirks that Model X has.
